What a domain registration is
A Registrant, also called the Registered Name Holder, is the individual or organisation recorded as holding a domain name registration. We act as the registrar and submit or manage registration transactions with the applicable Registry Operator.
A domain registration gives the Registered Name Holder a time-limited contractual right to use and manage the domain, subject to the Registration Agreement, applicable Registry Operator rules, ICANN policies where applicable, and applicable law. It is not a purchase of the domain name as permanent property.
Each top-level domain (“TLD”) is operated by a Registry Operator. Generic top-level domains (“gTLDs”) operate under applicable ICANN and registry arrangements. Country-code top-level domains (“ccTLDs”) are generally governed primarily by the rules of their respective country-code registries.
A domain is not the same as a website or email service
Registering a domain name does not automatically provide website hosting, email hosting, DNS hosting or another Internet service unless that service is expressly included in your order.
A Registry Operator provides registry-level services for its TLD. It generally does not operate or control the website, email system or other content used through a registered domain.
DNS, hosting, email and other services may be provided by us or by independent third parties. Problems affecting one of those services do not necessarily mean that the domain registration itself has failed.
Registry Operators and responsibility for domain use
The Registrant remains responsible for the registration and use of the domain name. The existence of a domain in a registry, or a Registry Operator’s technical operation of a TLD, does not constitute approval of the Registrant, the domain’s content or services conducted through it.
To the extent permitted by applicable law and the applicable registry terms, a Registry Operator is not responsible merely by reason of operating the TLD for consequences arising from a Registrant’s use, non-use or misuse of a domain, or for a Registrant’s violation of third-party rights.
Individual Registry Operators may impose additional warranties, indemnities, eligibility conditions, acceptable-use rules, dispute procedures, registration restrictions or other mandatory terms. Those requirements apply to registrations in the relevant TLD where required.
Registry policies for gTLDs we offer
gTLD registrations are subject to applicable ICANN Consensus Policies as well as mandatory policies and terms of the relevant Registry Operator. Review the applicable registry information before registering a domain.
Registry policies for ccTLDs we offer
Country-code domains can operate under rules that differ substantially from ICANN gTLD policy. A ccTLD may impose eligibility or local-presence requirements, different transfer procedures, different expiration and recovery rules, local dispute procedures or additional Registrant obligations.
The applicable ccTLD Registry Operator rules form part of the conditions for registrations in that extension where required.
Website information, corrections & changes
We work to keep information published on our website and customer systems accurate and useful, but domain availability, Registry Operator rules, pricing, technical behaviour and third-party services can change.
We may make additions, deletions, corrections or other modifications to informational content and website functionality. Where applicable law, ICANN policy, Registry Operator rules or our contractual obligations require prior notice of a change that materially affects you, we provide the required notice.
Information provided on this website does not override the Registration Agreement, a mandatory Registry Operator requirement, an applicable ICANN policy or applicable law.
Service availability & technical information
To the extent permitted by applicable law, our website, systems and informational materials are provided on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee that every function will be continuously available, uninterrupted, error-free or suitable for every intended use.
We use reasonable security measures, but no Internet service can guarantee that transmissions, third-party infrastructure, downloaded material or linked resources will always be free of viruses, malware or other harmful components. You should maintain appropriate endpoint protection, backups, authentication controls and other security safeguards.
Nothing in this section excludes a warranty, statutory right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
